Ridgewood Joinery is a furniture repair shop located in Mooresville, NC whose purpose is to return worn, broken or unstable furniture to its original value.
I started woodworking in 1975. As my craftmanship improved, I built one-of-a-kind tables, chairs, lamps and other specialty pieces using Mountain Laurel (non-traditional raw material) and lumber found in the North Carolina mountains.
In addition to furniture, I learned to frame artwork with certified conservation-grade techniques approved for galleries and individual collectors.
Combining these two woodworking methods has increased my proficiencies by helping me visualize a finished repair. This has also given me better insights into problem solving techniques when unforeseen structural or cosmetic glitches occur.
All materials used during a restoration are of the highest quality. If parts need replacing, they are made in the shop. All oils and compounds used during preparation, color or surface finishing are formulated by specialty coating manufacturers.
The pictures above are illustrations of projects brought in for repair. The “after repair” images are in the Gallery along with other examples of my work.
