All frames are manufactured when they are ordered.  They are made with kiln dried hardwood lumber and milled to your specification in our shop.  To better manage costs, frames are shipped unfinished and unassembled.  If you prefer other arrangements please let me know prior to manufacturing.  Assembly instructions are included with each frame.  Tools required are a Phillips head screw driver and hammer.  Also needed are tape (blue, green or tan), wood glue and small finishing nails.  If you are interested in a unique species of wood for your frames or other projects, please contact me directly.  I have developed a network of lumber traders and brokers to help with your search.

If your project is Custom Framing, please see Framing Terminology for a description and review the Worksheet & Information section for measurements and design consideration.  The Frame and Frame Stack diagrams found on these pages may help define your ideas and answer a few sometimes confusing terminology questions.

Cradled Board

Pattern #6 Cradled Board

Cradled Board is fast becoming a “must have” in the studio.  To ensure you get the correct size board(s), each order is manufactured individually to your specifications (width x length x depth) in our shop.  They are made from kiln dried lumber and finished with a smooth, flat birch surface.  They are sent unfinished unless other arrangements are made prior to manufacturing.  Cradled Boards are great for mounting finished work on paper or un-stretched canvas.  They are also preferred when working with heavy, non-flexible mediums such as plaster or stucco.

Reclaimed Canvas Stretcher Frames

If you have used stretched canvases taking up valuable studio or storage space, consider the cost benefits of reclaimed canvas stretcher frames with new canvas.  The existing canvas can be removed and saved.  Each stretcher frame will be inspected, reconditioned (as needed) and re-covered with your choice of canvas.  I do not have an inventory of canvas.  However, for your convenience, I stock a quality 12 ounce unprimed cotton duck canvas product.  Because of the large number of canvas grades and finishes available, please have your preferred canvas available along with the stretcher frames when you are ready to compare reclaimed canvas stretcher frames Vs buying new.  Also if you work on odd size canvases, which are often hard to find, please contact me directly to discuss your options.

Pick up and delivery services can be arranged if you are located within a 25 mile radius of Mooresville NC.  For details please see the information section of the  Worksheet & Information page.
